The City of Deerfield Beach’s Annual Ocean Way Holiday Celebration & Tree Lighting Ceremony, Saturday, December 5th at the International Fishing Pier (200 NE 21st Ave.) Musical performances, fun activities for kids, tasty holiday confections, pictures with Santa and “snow showers” get the holiday season underway in grand fashion. Coral Springs “Joining Forces” For The Holidays Parade, Dec. 9 Darth Vader and members of the 501st Legion Everglades Squad in Star Wars costumes kick off this cosmically themed holiday celebration. Lauderdale Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony, Nov. 20 ArtsPark at Young Circle kicks off the holidays with seasonal music, “possible snow flurries,” an appearance by Santa, and dazzling tree-lighting ceremony. Winterfest Family Fun Day, Nov. 22 This delightful holiday event on East Las Olas Blvd. features an array of family-friendly activities. Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Winterfest Boat Parade, Dec. 12 Billed as “The Greatest Show On H2O,” this spectacular holiday boat parade promises to be once again the world’s most-watched boat parade. The parade stages along New River and travels east to the Intracoastal Waterway in Ft. Lauderdale and then north to Lake Santa Barbara in Pompano Beach. The Nutcracker, Dec. 11-13 The acclaimed Miami City Ballet, celebrating its 30th Anniversary Season, performs George Balanchine’s enchanting version of this beloved holiday classic at the Broward Center. This lavish production is one of the only Balanchine Nutcracker productions in America and is a “must see.” Davie Winter Holiday Tree, Menorah, and Kinara Decorating Contest, Dec. 2 The Town of Davie invites civic groups and schools to participate in a fun-filled decorating contest at the Davie Town Hall.
