Honda, Golf and South Florida: These are a few of our favorite things, which makes February our favorite month of the year thanks to the Honda Classic golf tournament being in town. Located in sunny Palm Beach Gardens, the 2020 Honda Classic is inviting 144 of the world’s best professional golfers to South Florida’s PGA National Resort & Spa—and they’re all vying for a piece of the tourney’s $7 million payout pie. Good luck and Godspeed.
To honor our favorite South Florida event (and the local Florida charities it benefits), let’s play a game and answer the question that’s obviously on everyone’s mind: If Tiger Woods was a Honda, which Honda model would he be?
Honda Accord = Tiger Woods
With 15 major championships and 82 career PGA wins (and counting), Tiger Woods is considered one of the greatest and most influential golfers of all time. It only makes sense for him to be the human version of the Honda Accord.
The Accord, a midsize marvel, has won more awards than most other brands, let alone vehicles, over the last four-plus decades. Among its many, many wins since 2019 are the following:
- Midsize Car Best Buy of 2020 – “These buyers can take heart because [the 2020 Accord] is well-equipped to deliver on your highest expectations and that ability to do so is a big factor in that car remaining our choice as the Midsize Car Best Buy.” – KBB
- 2019 Best Midsize Car for Families – “We named the Accord the winner of our 2019 Best Midsize Car for Families award because of its excellent combination of cargo and passenger space, safety and reliability ratings, positive reviews from automotive journalists, and available family-friendly features.” – U.S. News
- Car and Driver’s 10Best of 2020 – “Driving [the 2020 Accord] has been a safe and sensible decision as long as the car has existed. It becomes something much more than that—rewarding, engaging, fun—when you hustle the car harder than most drivers do.” – Car and Driver
- 2019 Edmunds Editors’ Choice – “If you’re in the market for a midsize sedan, there’s no reason the Accord shouldn’t be on your shortlist. The field is stacked with solid choices, but the 2019 Honda Accord offers the best mix of value, practicality and personality.” – Edmunds
Loaded with innovative tech and features, including an available head-up display unit, optional heated and ventilated seats, and a cool trunk drawer system, the 2020 Accord is set to win even more this year. It certainly is an all-around amazing car.
Honda Ridgeline = Phil Mickelson
Perhaps the craftiest pro golfer in history, Phil Mickelson, with his unique southpaw swing, has tons of tricks up his sleeve (or in his bag). Sounds a lot like the Honda Ridgeline, one of the most innovative pickup trucks in the country.
Ridgeline’s dual-action tailgate, the segment’s first, opens down for conventional bed loading and swings to the side for even more convenient, unconventional access to the bed. Its innovative, lockable in-bed trunk, which is another segment-first feature, offers 7.3 cubic feet of storage space and a built-in drain plug. There’s just enough room in the in-bed trunk to store a bag of clubs and golf shoes. The truck bed audio system is ingenious, as well, and exclusive to the Ridgeline.

Honda Civic = Rickie Fowler
No American golfer has a keener fashion sense than Rickie Fowler. Always colorful on the course, Fowler’s talent doesn’t end at the closet doorway; he’s also a bonafide stud on the fairway. The Civic matches him perfectly.
Like Fowler’s choice in apparel, the Honda Civic also sports fashionista qualities. Its nameplate is available on 6 stylish Honda models: Civic Sedan, Coupe, Si Coupe, Hatchback, Si Sedan, and Type R. In all Civic vehicles, an athletic stance is prominent; Civic’s menacing bumpers, iconic badging, angular body lines and aerodynamic silhouette tell you that it’s not here to play—it’s here to win.
Honda Odyssey = Jim Furyk
An unconventional swing didn’t stop Jim Furyk from amassing 188 total Top 10 finishes. His long-term consistency has landed him third in career PGA Tour earnings. He also looks like a dad who brings his kids to school each morning, which surely makes him the ideal actor to play the Honda Odyssey in a Lifetime family movie.
With the 2020 Odyssey, Honda’s reign as producer of one of the best minivans continues. (It’s been one of the top-selling family vans for over two decades.)
The Odyssey comes with extremely convenient Magic Slide 2nd-row seats that can be reconfigured in mere seconds, opening the cabin up to comfortably accommodate any 8-passenger group.
CabinWatch and CabinTalk are great assets for multi-kid parents who like keeping an eye on things. Monitor the back rows with CabinWatch, and use the CabinTalk PA system to inform everyone of an impending bathroom break. CabinTalk even works over videos played through the Rear Entertainment System, so you can be sure you’re heard.
Special cargo bins situated under the cargo floor make life simpler, and let’s not forget about the industry’s first in-vehicle vacuum, HondaVAC.
How to Park for Free at the 2020 Honda Classic

However, you can still save $35 on parking at the PGA National Resort & Spa—if you own a Honda. That’s right, folks: Every Honda parks for free at the 2020 Honda Classic tournament! Give your Honda a wash and wax, then head to the course for a day or entire weekend of pro play.
