Your South Florida Honda Dealers, serving the greater Ft. Lauderdale/Miami metro area and communities throughout the South Florida coast, proudly introduce the beautiful and totally redesigned 2016 Honda Pilot SUV.

The 2016 Pilot’s sleek, contemporary exterior is all new for 2016. It’s not only pleasing to look at it’s also aerodynamically efficient for better fuel economy and improved handling. Marty Padgett, an editor of TheCarConnection.com, compares the new Pilot’s trim and athletic new physique to such competitors as the Chevy Traverse, Ford Explorer, Toyota Highlander, and Nissan Pathfinder.

“To us, the Pilot’s the prettiest of them all, the freshest look, Padgett says. “The rounded new shape is softer and more appealing than the box it came from. There’s an elegance to the profile, even if it’s a look we’ve seen on other utes–the Pilot still balances its glass to metal better than anything similar. The low front end and horizontally themed grille play handsomely off each other.”

With available LED headlights and optional 20-inch aluminum alloy wheels, the new 2016 Pilot is redesigned for the modern family seeking an SUV that is as good looking as it is versatile and capable.

But the Pilot’s fresh new exterior is just the beginning of the story. Enter the new Pilot’s completely redesigned and contemporized interior and experience accommodating spaciousness, premium materials, and unsurpassed versatility. As Marty Padgett of TheCarConnection.com notes, “Inside, the new Pilot couldn’t be more different from the old blocky, plasticky design. It’s very well finished, with elements from the current Accord, and some touches from the CR-V. On some versions, there’s a huge panoramic roof that opens up the cabin to a flood of natural light.”

And Scott Evans of MotorTrend.com says, “Then there’s the front. Up there, things are worlds better than they used to be. The dash now looks modern and sophisticated, not like a time capsule from 2005. You’ll see a clear family resemblance to the smaller CR-V, which isn’t a bad thing. The materials range toward the nicer end of the class, and the build quality is top notch. The center console is as functional as ever with room for about anything you’d want with you in the front of the car.”

There are many reasons why people buy SUVs, but the two most important are hauling cargo and people. It’s an area where Honda designers and engineers excel. The new 2016 Pilot is an excellent example of how form follows function. Let’s start with the Pilot’s generous interior dimensions. With 152.9 cubic inches of interior volume, there’s plenty of space for your family and your gear.

“The Pilot’s known for its versatility, and that’s in full force in this new version,” says TheCarConnetion.com’s Marty Padgett. “Three rows of seats have space for up to eight passengers. The front seats are just about ideally shaped, and with step-in height about an inch lower than before, the Pilot is an even better bet for smaller or older drivers. The middle row is adult-friendly, and for the first time, you can get a version with two captain’s chairs and a pass-through. The seat reclines for long trips and has its own tray table and cup holders.”

“In the back, the third-row seat is accessed by folding forward the second-row seat—at the push of a button, a nice touch,” adds Padgett. “Cargo space is abundant in the Pilot. There are cup holders everywhere and a console big enough for an iPad®. The third row folds down for a flat cargo floor. There’s a reversible cargo panel for dirty stuff like soccer cleats and beach chairs—and this cargo well behind the third row can hold an 82-quart cooler. Capri Sun for everyone!”

And accessing all this space is a breeze, thanks to the available Power Liftgate that lets you automatically lower or raise the liftgate with the touch of a button.

For the modern family who’s going places, the new 2016 Honda Pilot obliges with a host of available entertainment and technology features that set it apart. Whether on long road trips or short jaunts to the mall, the available Rear Entertainment System features a drop-down, 9-inch screen that plays both DVDs and Blueray® discs.

Honda takes the guesswork out of managing and controlling a host of advanced audio, communication, navigation, and connectivity functions with an available 8-inch, touch-sensitive color display conveniently mounted above the center stack. Add Bluetooth® wireless streaming audio technology, a USB input jack, and Pandora® and SiriusXM® Radio and you’ve got the complete package. Additionally, the new Pilot can be equipped with the latest version of Honda’s exclusive HondaLink® smartphone technology that lets you schedule service, get personalized radio stations, and much more.

While all this quiet, spacious versatility and cutting-edge technology are impressive, even more impressive are the new 2016 Honda Pilot’s handling, performance, and fuel economy. Propelling the new Pilot is an updated 280-hp, 3.5-liter V6 that is both responsive and smooth. It pairs to either a 6-speed automatic or a new 9-speed automatic transmission.

Recently, MotorTrend’s Scott Evans took the new Pilot for an extensive test drive and came away thoroughly impressed. Here’s what he had to say:

“What makes this new Pilot so good? It starts at the bottom. The new Pilot shares its platform with the new Acura MDX, and it’s an excellent platform. The Pilot’s impressive handling and body control are evidence. Should customers be terribly late to soccer practice and hustling the car for all it’s worth, they’ll find a very willing partner in the Pilot. It turns in sharply, smoothly transfers its weight, grips like a sedan, holds its line perfectly through a corner, and handles bumps as minor annoyances, not threats to stability. Topping it off is best-in-segment steering that not only feels nicely weighted, exhibiting no on-center dead spot and requiring no mid-corner corrections but even returns a little road feel. It doesn’t drive like a massive, eight-passenger SUV. It drives like the moderately sporty family sedan you gave up because you needed more space.”

“That’s just how it goes around a corner, says Evans. “There’s also the way it goes and stops. The fully revised 3.5-liter V-6 is more powerful than before and a touch more efficient. More important, the Pilot is nearly 300 pounds lighter, which contributes greatly to the improved driving experience. The engine feels strong and responsive, not overburdened like some of the competition. Acceleration from a stop and for passing is more than adequate. The lineup’s real gem is the all-new nine-speed automatic transmission that comes on the top two trim levels.”

“If you’re willing to spend the money, go for it,” Evans declares. “The standard six-speed auto shifts just as nicely, but the nine-speed’s wider gear ratio spread allows for more aggressive acceleration in lower gears and lower engine speeds in higher gears, giving you a stronger sense of acceleration from a stop and passing without hurting you on fuel economy. Either way, seamless cylinder deactivation and nearly seamless automatic engine start/stop will help keep the mpgs up.”

Speaking of fuel economy, the new Pilot achieves and excellent EPA-estimated combined 23 mpg, which, says TheCarConnectio.com’s Marty Padgett is “…among the best in its class.”

Honda makes ensuring the safety and security of you and your passengers a top priority. That’s why they equipped the new 2016 Honda Pilot with Honda’s best safety technology. As well as a rear backup camera, the Pilot’s available Honda Sensing™ suite of safety and driver-assist technologies include

  • Collision-Mitigation Braking System
  • Honda LaneWatch™
  • Blind-Spot Information System With Cross-Traffic Monitor
  • Adaptive Cruise Control
  • Lane-Keeping Assist
  • Road-Departure Mitigation
  • Intelligent Traction Management

These are just some of the reasons why the new Honda Pilot earns a “Top Safety Pick+” rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

The 2016 Honda Pilot is the new expression of what a modern, advanced, versatile, and fuel-efficient family SUV should be. As TheCarConnection’s Marty Padgett says, “All told, the 2016 Pilot isn’t just the best Pilot yet, it’s the best three-row crossover SUV we know.”
