Food lovers rejoice at the return of Crave GFL, now known as Greater Fort Lauderdale Restaurant Month. Over 50 restaurants are tempting your taste buds until September 30th, using 3-course gourmet dinners uniquely created for the event. Participants are based in Ft. Lauderdale, Coral Springs, Hollywood, and Pompano Beach, among other locations. Your Local South Florida Honda Dealers want you to enjoy the meals, but advise that due to its popularity, only reservations will guarantee you a spot.
Family-Friendly Ocean Views
Bring the entire family from Davie over to Wild Thyme Oceanside Eatery, that lays just steps from Central Beach. For the best panoramic ocean views and the feel of the sea breeze, snag a seat on the patio. Their unique menu covers updated on land and sea specialties. The Restaurant Month menu lets you choose from such delights as Coconut Conch Fritters or Maple Bourbon Bacon Jalapeno Cornbread for the first course, Butcher’s Tasting Meat Board or the Crispy Seafood Box for the second course, and an Oreo Key Lime Tart of Caramel & Chocolate Mudslide Pie for the third course.
You’ll want to leave the children at home in Coconut Creek to have fun during happy hour at Cafe Ibiza. This hip and happening homage to Spanish Mediterranean specialties is best relished at night. Start with signature cocktails like the Cocojito, a mojito in a coconut cup, or the Fountain of Youth, a rejuvenating combo of Stoli Blueberi, Cedilla Cedilla Açai, and fresh blueberries. Then continue with such Restaurant Month specialties as a Calamari Tiganita, which is fried tender baby squid rings in spicy tomato sauce. You can then cap it off with dancing to live music every night of the week.
For Modern Carnivores
Jackson’s Prime puts a bright, sophisticated, and modern twist on the classic steakhouse, making it well worth the drive, even from Weston. The menu highlights USDA Prime, which consists of the top two percent of beef in the country. The contemporary bar dominating the middle of the restaurant boasts a surfeit of red and white wines and champagnes. For your three-course selection, start with the Basil Portobello Mushroom Flatbread or Roasted Broccoli Soup. Then load up on Veal “Osso Bucco” or USDA Prime Six-Ounce Fillet before ending with Triple Chocolate Cake or Key Lime Pie.
Zagat calls Tsukuro a “small-plate wonderland” because of its small and large dishes that are meant for sharing. The cuisine focuses on fresh ocean delights like sushi and sashimi. Pair your choice with sake, wine, beer, or one of their signature cocktails. Specialties for the month include the Oyster Trio with your choice of Gulf or East Coast oysters, Pad Thai, Beef Lo Mein with beef and scallions, or the Heartbreaker Roll with spicy tuna, spicy mayo, kimchee sauce, and tempura flakes.
Tuscany Al Fresco
Whether you make the trip by yourself or with your loved ones from Deerfield, Luigi’s Tuscan Grill welcomes you like a member of their large extended family. Dine al fresco to see what’s happening on Las Olas Boulevard or Riverwalk, or take a seat inside where the ambiance has you surrounded by wooden wine crate labels. Your Restaurant Month choices include Caprese Salad to start, Tortellini Vodka or Spaghetti Vongole as a second, and Chicken Marsala or Salmon for your third course. Then have the heavenly Tiramisu for dessert.
