What is Oktoberfest? It’s an annual event that celebrates German and Bavarian culture in the most genuine way possible—with lots of beer, kielbasa, mustard, and even more beer. Although South Florida doesn’t have quite the same Oktoberfest allure as Munich, we’ve still got plenty of fun and hops-packed activities and festivals for you to enjoy. Take a look at these recommended Miami Oktoberfest events for 2017 (and be sure to designate a driver for your trip back home)!

60th Annual Oktoberfest (2nd & 3rd Weekends in October)

Sponsored by the German American Social Club, this Miami Oktoberfest is the area’s best. You’ve got authentic German cuisine, music, folk dancing, and live performances. Oh, and lots and lots of German beers to sample. Being a (mostly) wholesome family-friendly event, this Oktoberfest in Miami also features bounce castles, magic shows, and other games for the little ones to enjoy. The proverbial doors to this October festival open October 13th-15th and 20th-22nd. Ticket prices top out at $10 (ages 21+) and kids 6 years of age or under are 100% free.

44th Oktoberfest in Lake Worth, FL (2nd & 3rd Weekends in October)

Pack up your Honda CR-V or Pilot for a short trip to Lake Worth, FL, which is between Delray Beach and Fort Lauderdale. There you’ll find the American German Club-sponsored Oktoberfest. Now in its 44th year, this Oktoberfest is set to be the largest yet. More than 30,000 people are likely to be in attendance over the two weekends (Oct. 13th-15th and 20th-22nd), but there should be plenty of pretzels, libations, and other Bavarian specialties to go around.

Sam Adams Octoberfest Miami

Sam Adams Octoberfest Miami (Oct. 6th-8th)

With seven years under its belt, the Sam Adams Octoberfest Miami event is the youngest on this list, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t fun! In fact, it’s known as the largest Oktoberfest party in South Florida, which is no small feat. What’s best, this year’s Octoberfest is entirely free to attend! Beer and food will not be free, however, but all the live music and entertainment will be. There will even be a “Miss Octoberfest” competition, so get there early if you’ve always wanted to attend a Miss Universe Pageant.

Oakland Park Oktoberfest (October 6th-8th)

Located between Pompano Beach and Hollywood, FL, Oakland Park’s Oktoberfest is as authentic as it gets. Now a teenager—it’s celebrating its 13th year on Earth in 2017—Oakland Park Oktoberfest will feature more than just beers and food. You’ll find numerous amusement rides and get to watch performances by Bavarian folk dancers, master yodelers, and expert accordion players. The event’s magnum opus, The Central Bark Dachshund Dash, is as fun as it sounds, so bring your wiener dog for a chance to win a prize.

Admission is just $5 for adults. Read more about this Oktoberfest event at
